Abby Armbruster

Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Musician

Born in Lincoln, Alabama, Abby Armbruster began learning the violin at the age of 8.  She attended high school at the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham where she studied with Alabama Symphony Orchestra violinist, Ai-Yi Bao.  In 2004, she was the Alabama scholarship recipient of the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Festival.  Abby received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, studying with Gabe Pegis of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.  While in school, she participated in many summer music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, CCM Spoleto, and the National Orchestra Institute.

 

Abby has been a first violinist in the Annapolis Symphony since 2013.  She has also held positions with the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and has played regularly with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in New Zealand.  She made her solo debut in 2012 with the Gadsden Symphony Orchestra.  

 

Abby has also been a private violin instructor for a decade.  In addition to private instruction, Abby has taught at Jacksonville University and Talladega College, as well as various music institutes. 

 

Abby currently lives in Alexandria, VA with her husband, CJ and cat, Checkers.
