Gabriel Meza

Private Lessons

Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Musician

Gabriel Meza is a violinist, teacher and member of professional musical ensembles active in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Gabriel currently serves as Assistant Concertmaster of the Annapolis Symphony, Principal Violin II of the York Symphony and as a section violin member of the Harrisburg Symphony.

In 2016, Gabriel graduated from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, having earned Bachelors, Masters, and Graduate Performance Diploma degrees there.  While at Peabody, he was awarded first prize in its undergraduate violin competition (Marbury Violin Competition, 2012), and he was awarded top merit scholarships for all of his studies there. Gabriel’s teacher throughout his years at Peabody was solo violinist Keng-Yuen Tseng. Gabriel’s other teachers have included Qian Zhou, with whom Gabriel studied during an exchange semester in Singapore, and Kevin Lawrence of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Not only a performer, Gabriel has also enjoyed teaching violin students in a variety of settings. In addition to his work at Annapolis Symphony Academy, he currently teaches at Keystone Musical Arts Center in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and has taught lessons as an independent contractor at Music & Arts in Arundel Mills, MD. As a teacher, Gabriel seeks to develop the highest level of excellence possible in each student through a challenging and encouraging atmosphere. Gabriel wishes to introduce students to the same richly rewarding and enjoyable experiences of making music that have provided him with the motivation to strive for excellence in his own musical career.

In addition to his normal concert schedules in the Annapolis, York, and Harrisburg Symphonies, Gabriel has appeared as guest concertmaster of the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra and has performed numerous times as a substitute musician in the Baltimore Symphony and Delaware Symphony Orchestras. While studying at Peabody, Gabriel performed in solo and chamber music recitals connected with Phoenix Arts Management, LLC in the Baltimore area. Having enjoyed many performance opportunities himself, Gabriel hopes to inspire his students with a passion for performing, as well as an all-around love for musical study and enjoyment that will encourage and inspire them throughout their lives.
